Insert or full-frame: which question to ask first

There are two ordinary paths. They are not interchangeable.

The insert

The old frame stays. The new unit sits inside it. Stucco and interior trim are usually left alone. The glass opening gets a little smaller. This is the right conversation when the frame is straight, dry, and still fastened to the wall.

Full-frame

The old frame comes out to the rough opening. Someone looks at the wood behind it, flashes the opening, and sets a new window. This is the right conversation when the frame is soft, corroded, or pulling away.

The first question

Ask the contractor to probe the sill and the corners and to write down what they found. A recommendation with no finding is a guess. Pane Pro SD does not make that call. The person who would do the work does.
